Daily Train Puzzle turns an Inglenook model-railway layout into a daily sorting challenge. An engine carries groups of cars between three capacity-limited tracks; the goal is to assemble the five listed cars on the Top track, in order, while approaching the stated minimum move count. It's free to play in your browser, with one train-sorting puzzle a day and no account needed. There is no unlimited mode, but past puzzles can be replayed from the archive.
How to play Daily Train Puzzle
- Read the five target cars in order and inspect the cars on the three tracks.
- Tap a car to pick it up together with all cars to its right; the engine can carry at most three.
- Tap a carried car and a destination track to set down that group, respecting each track's capacity.
- Arrange the five target cars on the Top track in order, counting each pickup or set-down as a move.
- Use Undo or Start over to improve your solution, or follow the previous-puzzle link for older layouts.
Tips
- Keep spare track capacity available; filling every short track can block a needed transfer.
- Plan for the order of the whole carried group, not just the one car you want to move.
