Poeltl is the daily NBA mystery-player game, named after center Jakob Poeltl and now run with the NBA Players Association. Each guess shows how your player compares on team, conference, division, position, height, age and number, and you have eight tries to land on the right name. It's free to play in your browser, with one mystery player a day and no account needed. There is no unlimited mode, but past puzzles can be replayed from the archive.
How to play Poeltl
- Type the name of any current NBA player and pick him from the list.
- Green cells match the mystery player exactly; yellow means close, for example a former team, a shared position, or height, age or number within two.
- Arrows on the number columns tell you whether to go higher or lower.
- Use the Show Silhouette button if you want a visual hint, and finish within eight guesses.
Tips
- Open with a player from a big conference and a common position to split the field quickly.
- Conference and division clues cut the list down fast, so lock those in early.
- A yellow team cell means the mystery player once played for that club, which is a strong lead.
- Save the silhouette for when you are down to a handful of names.
